My poetry is probably on par with my singing and guitar playing; I like it, but it’s not great!

Anyway, haven’t written one for many years. In fact, the last one was probably New Years 2009, which I remember as being quite maudlin, but I can’t find it anywhere.

At the beginning of last year I did want to meet my maker, and I’m glad that eventually I did – not in Heaven though, in my heart.

In the year of 2011, I didn’t quite make it to heaven,
I had wanted to but didn’t try very hard.
I think God had other plans, to hold me in his hands
And graciously he dealt me another card.

That left me filled with hope, and I felt like I could cope
With whatever came towards me in this life
Be it debts unpaid, or plans I make un-made
I am ready now for any kind of strife.

So hit me with your worst, I know I am not cursed
I will never be in the place where I once was
It has all been taken care of, by the one who knows every hair of;

Jesus Christ, my Saviour on the cross.

G.C.S.E's......meh......

My daughter gets her GCSE results today, her best predicted grades are D’s, but she is realistically expecting E’s & F’s.  From day 1 at school it was clear she was not going to get the A* grades.
I have obviously told her this doesn’t matter and tried to build her up where her strengths lie, I don’t think she always believes me, but then, we don’t always get on very well.  You see most of the time she hates me and I don’t know how to deal with that, especially when I am probably not the best at showing love and understanding because most of the time I hate myself so I agree with her!
But I do know that your school grades don’t define you, I do know that God has a plan for each of us, even my stubborn non-believing daughter.  God loves her and has her path set right out for her, if one day she asks for the wisdom to follow it.
My daughter is fantastic with small children, I don’t just mean she likes to play with them a little, she really knows how to responsibly look after them.  But she has given up going down the childcare/education route before she has even begun because she knows her grades won’t be that high!
It is so frustrating to see her write off her best qualities because she hasn’t been examined in them.  I wonder how many other professional areas are losing fantastic candidates because they won’t get A-C in English or Maths?
Anyway, I will do what I should do, and that is pray that whatever the results and whatever her reactions to them she will realise that she is a loved /unique/ important /fallible/forgiven individual, she has her whole life ahead of her and no-one else can achieve for her what she can achieve for herself.

Coming Back To Life

I was driving a familiar route today through lovely countryside which takes about an hour.  On long journey's on my own I usually take time to turn the radio off and ask God to be present with me and talk to me.

The scenery as I have shared before is magnificent, and I have travelled this road through the seasons as they change ever so slightly every two to three weeks.

Today the fields that once were the brightest yellow, were golden brown, with rolled bales dotted around them - beautiful!

It was then I really felt like I had come back to life, almost as if I had been in a dormant state, like a coma and now I was awakening from it.  The last few years I've had, I guess I had been slightly comatose!

I really do believe my life is about to turn around, God has good things in store for me and my family, I do not doubt His plans for me.

He has already shown me restoration in so many ways personally, I feel excited about what the future holds Jeremiah 29:11-12.
